Nikorn challenged the idea that a large crowd or visible rainbow branding is enough to prove success. The more useful questions are whether LGBTIQ+ people feel safer, can ask for help and are treated with dignity when they use an actual service.
He pointed to the gap that can appear between a company policy and what happens at the counter. Practical starting points include inclusive benefits and forms, safe complaint channels and involving community members in reviewing policy and service. The test is whether the problem becomes less common for people who live with it.
