Community as seller, not scenery: designing routes that retain local value

How can a tourism route create bookable offers, paid roles and repeat demand for local enterprise?

A strong route enables people in the place to become sellers, not merely people whose stories are told.

Somsak brought more than fifteen years of community-based tourism experience into an urban setting. He argued that communities should not be used as scenery: local people should help design the experience, own the story and decide the price, capacity and way visitors are received.

Ideas such as Queen Guide or Walk with Drag show how local knowledge and identity can become paid work. But a route only enters the economy when it has a schedule, price and booking path. A useful pilot also makes clear who sells, who earns commission and how much income reaches the community.
